Column: Faith! The Substance and The Evidence

[gdlr_dropcap type=”circle” color=”#ffffff” background=”#ff0000″]A[/gdlr_dropcap]Ah yes. Monday. Like that annoying aunt/uncle who likes to give those “back in my day” speeches, you really can’t get rid of Monday can you? No seriously… can you??? Lol. With another weekend behind us, it makes sense to talk about that “substance and evidence” thing. No I don’t mean that crime series you like. I mean faith. As the Bible puts it in Hebrews 11:1,

[gdlr_frame type=”border” align=”center” caption=”faith ‘… is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.'”] [gdlr_image_link type=”image” image_url=”×400.jpg” alt=” ” link_url=”×400.jpg” target=”_blank” width=”400px”][/gdlr_frame]

but how in the world does this make sense today? Well you’re in luck. The Gudge is here.

Let’s do like a gospel concert and break it down (lol). Faith is “…the substance of things hoped for…” but what does that mean? Let’s say there’s a new Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood, but you’re not sure if it’s… safe (lol).

One day you hear from a friend of yours that the food is good. Days later you are so hungry, and you don’t feel like cooking. You HOPE your friend is right about that Chinese restaurant, because if they ain’t then y’all got problems (lol). You get it? Good.

Let’s break down the second part of the text. Faith is “…the evidence of things not seen.” Let’s say there’s a… yeah the restaurant again lol. You know your friend said that it was good. You know they liked it, but you didn’t see them eat it. You go to the counter to choose what to buy with no visual confirmation whatsoever, trusting that what your friend said is true.

That my friends is faith. Not knowing what to expect, and trusting regardless. So as you go through the week, remember that no matter the obstacles and trials, the ups and downs, or the choice between one Chinese restaurant or the other, just let faith help you through. If it didn’t work, I would’ve told you. But hey… Don’t take my word for it. Just try it

Peace, Love & Music…
