Hey You!! Yes You!! You who’s reading this, I have a question for you. Have you decided what type of week you’re going to have yet? YESSS I know what I said so I’ll ask again. Have you decided what type of week you’re going to have yet? Did you even know that the decision was yours to make???? Hmm… Now I guess THAT is the real question…. Well, my friend, I am here to tell you that the outcome of your week lies in your hands or rather in your MOUTH!!!! Let’s talk about the power of the tongue..
You see, I’ve been on a pursuit for greater intimacy with God requiring my faith to be put into action. This means that there will be times where I be at a place where I will have NO OTHER choice but to trust God. I’ve often heard of various biblical principles including the power of sowing and reaping and recently a situation arose where I came to the realization that my monthly expenses exceeded my current income, and the Lord whispered to me “this is a good time to apply that sowing-reaping principle.” In obedience, I sowed ALL I HAD, which left me unable to support myself for the upcoming week. But how many of us know that there is no lack in God because He will will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).
On the first day of my new job I left home to get transportation knowing that I did not have the taxi fare. While walking to the taxi stand, the fear of embarrassment and doubt began to fill my mind and heart. Having had the experience with these emotions before, and knowing the God I serve, I quickly opened my mouth, speaking and declaring God’s goodness and faithfulness into the atmosphere, which resulted in a shift within me. Now this is where things got interesting, with this new found authority I remembered the scripture that said “….ask and you shall receive….”(John 16:24).
So I did!! I remembered while walking, I said “ Lord I know that you already know my needs, therefore you’ll send me exactly what I’ve asked.” So I WILL walk to this stand and YOU WILL send me a vehicle that will drop me straight to church and not charge me a dime.” After making my declaration I crossed the road and waited for the vehicle I knew God would send. It hadn’t even been three minutes before I heard the sound of a car horn prompting me to extend my hand, signaling the driver to stop. On entering the vehicle I recognized the driver and so we began conversing. While talking it was revealed that this driver actually was a friend of my father and is now a retired electrician. He then proceeded to say “ I don’t even understand how I stopped for you because I don’t work taxi and I’m not known to pick up persons.” To which I replied by saying, “You stopped for me because you were the answer to my request”. Guys let me tell you that was the beginning of an adventurous week whereby God never failed to provide for me. Not even for a moment!
Now I shared this testimony with you to demonstrate the power of the spoken word. God’s word says, “The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.” Proverbs 18:21 (New Living Translation). In Mark 11:23 He also encourages us to speak to mountains with authority and tell them be removed and they shall obey. Now if we can move mountains and bring death or life with our faith-filled words then what about applying that authority to your week? Therefore I encourage you my friend to walk into and speak over this week with all the authority given to you by our Heavenly Father and command a blessing over your week. Speak it and it shall be done. I hope this encourages someone. Happy Motivational Monday Everyone.
